Assembly | Over the extruded ETFE insulated conductors laid parallel, a 10 mil min avg, 8 mil min at any point wall of extruded special copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) is extruded to form a two conductor parallel cord. This cord is now prepared for the spiral wound heating element. This is done by carefully removing the extruded special copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene insulation along the length of the cord so as to bare the copper conductor for approx 1/2 in widths at periodic intervals. A spirally wound nichrome or other types of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the core, and may be soldered to the exposed conductor. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire and the AWG size (resistance) of the spirally wound wire, different wattages per foot per service voltage can be obtained. |
